Ícone da contracultura, movimento que teve seu auge na década de 1960, Joplin deixou como marca a sua voz em quatro álbuns solo – “Big Brother and the Holding Company” (1967), “Cheap Thrills” (1968), “I Got Dem Ol’ Kozmic Blues Again Mama!” (1969) e o póstumo “Pearl” (1971) -, mas seu vício em drogas a levou a uma overdose de heroína aos 27 anos.
Nomes como Amy Adams, Zooey Deschanel, Renée Zellweger, Lili Taylor e Pink já foram cotados para interpretar a cantora no cinema, mas o projetofoi interrompidono ano passado por causa deproblemas legais. NO ENTANTO, um documentário sobre Joplin estreia semana que vem no Reino Unido. O filme se chama “Little Girl Blue”(veja o trailer acima).
O trailer mostra um trecho de uma carta de Joplin lida por Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power. Pelo jeito, o tom do filme será esse de poesia misturada com “demônios” pessoais dela. “[As cartas] revelamumafrancahonestidade, abertura emocionale inteligênciaferoz”, diz a crítica do “New York Times”.
O documentário, dirigido por Amy Berg, também usa material de arquivo e entrevistas com amigos e conhecidos para fazer um retrato pessoal de Joplin. Mas não foi assim fácil. Segundo o site da revista “Another”, a diretora levou anos para conseguir finalizar o filme e contou eventualmente com a ajuda do gestor de patrimônio da cantora para conseguir gravações raras.
